CANBERRA
Canberra is an effort and consequence of human planning and imagination. The city is a brainchild of Chicago architect Walter Burley Griffin who designed and planned the entire construction process. Being the capital of Australia, Canberra is only second such destination in the world that is built after a premeditated plan. In fact, the Australian authorities decided on the location of Canberra in 1908 at the Australian Capital Territory, which is on the south east part of the country. Though the development process was hindered till the Second World War, federal government of Australia moved to Canberra on 9 May 1927. The city later rapidly grew with abundance of greenery, beautiful gardens and parks and elegant accommodations by wide street sides. Today Canberra is home to the old and new Parliament House, the High Court of Australia and numerous government houses. It’s also a great place to enjoy a well-planned city with its array of stylish hotels, restaurants, art works and educational institutions.
Canberra is located on the northern corners of the Australian Capital Territory, 300 km southwest of Sydney. Spread over an area of 805.6 sq km, the city provides accommodation to around 320,000 people. The Brindabella Ranges and the Molonglo River that flows through Canberra are the natural highlights of the city. However it is the serene sceneries of the Lake Burley Griffin at centre of the city that attracts maximum number of visitors. Several bed and breakfasts and hotels have come surrounding this region in Canberra. The unbound vegetation around the city has earned it the reputation of the "bush capital." You can enjoy these natural pleasures of Canberra by taking apartment for rent in the suburbs. The international student tribe of Australian National University and the Academy of Science bring life to nighttime activities and make the mundane Canberra hostels a den of excitement.
